Webinar | Fischer-Tropsch & Methanol-based Kerosene

3. July 2024

Freedom and mobility are of paramount importance to our open societies – preserving these achievements well into the future requires a fast transition to carbon-neutral aviation. Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) are a key instrument to solve this challenge, which can be produced from biogenic as well as power-based resources. Among the power-based conversion pathways, the Fischer-Tropsch and Methanol-to-Jet route currently perceive a lot of interest. However, most of their techno-economical parameters such as energy and carbon efficiency and further resource demands are not clear yet.

In this webinar, Stefan Bube and Steffen Voß from the Institute of Environmental Technology and Energy Economics of Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) will share the results from their latest publication comparing SAF production via the Fischer-Tropsch and Methanol-to-Jet route, respectively. After very briefly specifying the process steps of both routes, detailed process analyses are carried out and the pros and cons of each pathway will be highlighted.
