aireg conference: aviation biofuel ready for take-off at ILA
Global challenges require local solutions. This also applies to the future supply of sustainable aviation fuel. On May 19th, 2014, the day before the opening of ILA Berlin Air Show, aireg demonstrates “The Future of Alternative Aviation Fuels” at its 2nd International Biofuel Conference.
During the event international representatives from politics, industry and science will discuss how far aviation has come in delivering on its sector specific climate protection goals and which challenges remain: How do we accomplish a swift and non-distortionary deployment of alternative fuels? How can a sufficient supply of sustainable feedstocks be safeguarded? How do overall changes in climate and biofuel policy affect the market?
Confirmed speakers of the event include Dr. Jean Botti, Chief Technical Officer of Airbus Group, Rainer Bomba, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, Brazilian Ambassador in Germany and Harry Hohmeister, Member of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Group.
Alternative fuels are the key instrument to achieve aviation’s climate protection goals. At the end of 2013, two production processes for alternative aviation fuels had been available. Seven other technologies are currently being evaluated. Globally numerous airlines have had positive experiences with alternative fuels, mostly derived from energy crops and waste materials. Currently, many airlines around the world are taking great efforts to build reliable supply chains at attractive prices.
