aireg welcomes OMV as 35th member
aireg – Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany – continues its success story in the second half of the year. With OMV joining, aireg now counts 35 members, nearly two years after its foundation. This is one major step closer to aireg’s goal of using ten percent alternative fuels in aviation in Germany by 2025.
Siegfried Knecht, Chairman of the Board of aireg, welcomes the newest member: “The accession of OMV is beneficial in every respect. Thanks to its know-how in terms of second generation biofuels, OMV will be able to make a significant contribution to their development and production for aviation.”
Dr. Walter Böhme, Head of Research and Innovation at OMV: “Our membership in aireg emphasizes our commitment to new energy sources. Last year we already invested 21 million euros in this sector. In the long term, we are ready to double this investment. Based on a strong partnership with aireg we want to make our contribution towards more sustainable aviation.”
