Alternative aviation fuels are being presented at the ILA Berlin Air Show 2012
ILA Berlin Air Show 2012 will become a showcase for the future of alternative aviation fuels.
At a joint booth in hall 1, aireg will be presenting itself together with international biofuels manufacturers and leading technology providers from this young and dynamically growing business sector. The US initiative for alternative aviation fuels, CAAFI, is a partner of aireg and co-host of the joint booth. Already on the first day of the trade fair, Federal Transport Minister Dr. Peter Ramsauer and U.S. Ambassador Philip D.Murphy will pay a visit and sign a German-American intergovernmental agreement concerning future cooperation in the area of alternative aviation fuels.
On the following day, September 12th, 2012, senior representatives from the fields of politics, science and the economy will exchange opinions on the future of alternative aviation fuels at an international conference. Participants and speakers at the conference include, among others, the State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport, Prof. Klaus-Dieter Scheurle, the Director General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, Mr. Matthias Ruete, CEO of EADS, Dr. Thomeas Enders and Jaiwon Shin from the US-American Space Agency NASA. On several podiums, experts from Germany, Europe and the USA will dicuss issues ranging from licensing, technology and sustainability to infrastructure requirements and financing. aireg and CAAFI are the organisers of the conference.
Siegried Knecht, chairman of aireg’s board said: “Sustainable biofuels can make a considerable contribution to reduce CO2 emissions in air traffic and offer great economic opportunities at the same time. The necessary conditions need to be created now. We very much hope that we can promote this objective at the conference.”
