aireg joins the “Fuelling Flight Initiative” for the utilization of sustainable aviation fuels

2. February 2022

aireg has joined the “Fuelling Flight Initiative” convened by the European Climate Foundation (ECF) and ClimateWorks Foundation (CWF). In the initiative, Air France-KLM, easyJet, Ryanair and Deutsche Post DHL Group have joined forces with different non-governmental organizations to support the market ramp-up of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) as an essential element in the defossilization of international aviatio

Melanie Form, member of the aireg board and managing director, says about joining: “We are very pleased to have become a member of the “Fuelling Flight Initiative”. The use of sustainable electricity-based fuels and advanced biofuels based on the full range of available feedstocks as soon as possible is a significant element for the defossilization of the aviation industry. Together with the international partners, we can further contribute to support the market ramp-up of SAF in Europe.”

In the consensus statement published on 01 February 2022 in response to the EU Commission’s ReFuelEU proposal, the initiative proposes, among other things, more ambitious sub-quotas for e-kerosene and funding for the development of new advanced feedstocks.
