The PtX Lab Lausitz has joined the aviation initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany aireg. Founded in Cottbus in March 2021, the Lab aims to contribute to the market ramp-up of environmentally friendly power-to-X (PtX) products. The initial focus will be on liquid synthetic fuels (Power-to-Liquid, PtL) based on green hydrogen for the use in aviation and shipping. aireg e.V. has been advocating for the increased use of aviation fuels from renewable raw materials and thus, also for PtX fuels for more than ten years.
Dr. Harry Lehmann, head of the PtX Lab Lausitz, states on joining aireg: “The nationally and internationally formulated climate targets make it urgently necessary to take the biggest possible steps towards CO2 neutrality in aviation as well. The use of PtX products is currently the only way to achieve this. We at PtX Lab Lausitz are pleased to be working together with aireg from now on to ensure that the market ramp-up of environmentally friendly, sustainably produced, and clean aviation fuels
continues to gain momentum.”
Melanie Form, member of the aireg board and managing director: “With the PtX Lab Lausitz, we are able to gain a member with broad expertise and ambitious goals in the field of PtX. We are very pleased about this, because the production of PtL not only offers the opportunity to bring sustainable aviation fuels(SAF) to the market, but also to reduce the climate impact of aviation as much as possible.”
About PtX Lab Lausitz:
The ’PtX Lab Lausitz – Think-and-do tank for fuels and basic materials from green hydrogen’was founded in 2021 by Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH. Based in Cottbus, the lab will support the economy and civil society on its way to greenhouse gas neutrality. The overall aim is to facilitate the market ramp-up for the environmentally safe and sustainably produced PtX products – both nationally and internationally. The construction and operation of a PtL pilot plant in the region of Lusatia is also planned, so as to offer a hands-on experience for the industry and the public of the potential offered by PtX.
About aireg e.V:
