Berlin, 09 July, 2025 – The Green Hydrogen Business Alliance (H2BA) and the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany (aireg) entered into a strategic partnership aimed at fostering the rapid market development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in developing and emerging countries. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing renewable energy based eSAF adoption by shaping the necessary framework conditions for its large-scale deployment in aviation within international cooperation.
Through this partnership, H2BA and aireg will engage in joint efforts to strengthen the eSAF ecosystem.
By leveraging their respective expertise and networks, H2BA and aireg aim to create synergies that accelerate the development of a robust market supporting the aviation sector’s transition toward a more sustainable future.
Farhanja Wahabzada, Team Lead H2BA: “The partnership with aireg is a testament to our long-standing cooperation and shared ambition: to build green hydrogen and eSAF value chains. We believe that eSAF production is a unique opportunity to link decarbonization goals with sustainable economic development in the Global South.”
Melanie Form, Managing Director and Member of the Board of aireg comments on the new strategic partnership agreement: “We are delighted to enter into this cooperation with the Green Hydrogen Business Alliance. Green hydrogen is a crucial building block for the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel and a key enabler for the decarbonization of aviation. In the past, we have already successfully collaborated on several events, and we are looking forward to intensifying this cooperation in the future. Through our partnership, we will jointly support the ramp-up of Sustainable Aviation Fuels and green hydrogen infrastructure, especially in emerging and developing countries. Together, we are taking an important step towards a more climate-friendly future in aviation.”
